Thanks to a donation from Amy Loucks Gallen, in memory of her great-grandfather, Charles L. Merwin, who purchased and began publishing The Reveille Echo in 1905 and went on to publish the Daily Leader beginning in 1915, researchers and genealogists have access to the Reveille Echo newspaper online. This database of newspapers is made available through the Ohio Memory Project, a collaborative program of the Ohio History Collection and State Library of Ohio.
The Reveille Echo collection currently includes August 4, 1904-June 30, 1910, January 2, 1913-March 25, 1915, and January 3, 1918 – April 6, 1922.
Formed by the union of the Valley Echo and Republican Reveille newspapers, The Reveille Echo was East Palestine, Ohio’s newspaper from March 1894 to April 1922. The Reveille Echo covered births, deaths, marriages, court and city council news, local news, and social announcements from surrounding Ohio and Pennsylvania villages.
