2016 Summer Reading Program

2016 Summer Reading Slogan
People of all ages are invited to participate in the 2016 Summer Reading Program titled, "On Your Mark, Get Set...Read," and can register to participate in the program beginning Monday, June 6.   The program continues until Thursday, August 4. 

Read books, eBooks, magazines, and listen to audiobooks to win a prize.   In addition to reading books, you can complete activities including attending programs at the library to earn a prize.   Limit one prize per person.   Once you have earned your prize, you can keep reading to earn chances at a grand prize. 

The summer is filled with entertaining activities at the library including special event programs, crafts, and more.   A complete list of events is available below.   For more information, call the East Palestine Memorial Public Library at 330-426-3778.

Registration

Stop in anytime beginning on Monday, June 6 to register to participate in the Summer Reading Program.   The first 100 children to sign up get a prize.   On Monday, June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., show your creativity with Sidewalk Chalk Art.  Chalk will be provided.

Chip Richter in Concert

Celebrate the beginning of the reading program with a concert by Chip Richter, and his music for kids and families.  All ages are welcome to attend.

Special guests from the NEO-Tech Lab will bring exciting and educational gadgets including drones, MiPosaur, LEGO Fusion, 3Doodler (3D printing pen), and more.  Children to Teens will be able to explore and experiment hands-on with the technology.

LEGOs at the Library

All ages are welcome to build creations with LEGOs provided by the library.

Chapters Book Club for ages 8 to 12 year olds
Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m.

Chapters Book Club for children ages 8 to 12 years old will meet The Basketball Mystery by Gertrude Chandler Warner.  Copies of the book will be available at the library.  Children who have not read the book are welcome to attend.

Read and Feed Your Imagination with Paul Merklein
Thursday, August 4 at 1:00 p.m.

Cartoonist Paul Merklein will be our special guest for the finale of the reading program.  Grand prizes will be awarded after the show.
